WHAT IS SITTING TAI CHI & FIVE TREASURES QIGONG?

Tai Chi is a noncompetitive, self-paced system of physical exercise and stretching. Sitting Tai Chi exercise is a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner, as each posture flows into the next without pausing. There are many types of Tai Chi and Sitting Tai Chi is an adaption of the Sun Style Tai Chi standing form.

 

The Benefits of Sitting Tai Chi have been studied scientifically in and recent years research suggests that the sitting form offers : increased flexibility, improved muscle strength, a decrease of anxiety and depression, improved balance and coordination, improves the quality of sleep, such as staying asleep longer and feeling more alert during the day. slowing age related bone loss; lowering blood pressure, improving cardiovascular fitness, relieving chronic muscle pain, and enhancing everyday physical function and sense of well-being. Research has determined the practice of Tai Chi relaxes the body, quiets the nervous system, increases range of motion of muscles and joints and refreshes the skin.

 

Five Treasures Qigong. The purpose of Qigong is to support the physical life force or vital energy found in all living things. The exercise has a meditative quality and combines breathing, intention and gentle movements to encourage the exchange of Qi between internal and external environments.

 

Lisa teaches individual private and group classes in Branford, C.T. and Skype for those unable to participate in the Branford classes.
